IDOLWILD presents BREATHING ROOM, a group exhibition organized by the Korean American Artist Collective that delves into the ongoing work of seeking identity—a constant and exhausting process. As artists, we use our creative abilities as a medium for this exploration, whether to process our search or to showcase the results of our findings. Often, we turn to the past, reminisce, and feel nostalgic for a history we long to experience. We examine detritus, artifacts, and fragments of the past that provide clues to who we are. These artifacts become the inception of work or a starting point on a continuous journey.

Featured artists include Cha Yuree, Dave Young Kim, Aaron Chung, Mary Laube, Michelle S. Cho, Victoria Jang, Julie Yeo, Haerim Lee, Jeffrey Yoo Warren, Dana Weiser, Jeffery Sun Young Park, and Eunsoo Jeong. BREATHING ROOM will be on view from September 28 through October 26, 2024, with the opening reception taking place on Saturday, September 28 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm.

The thematic core of BREATHING ROOM centers on the exploration of identity—an evolving, introspective odyssey that compels us to engage with historical fragments and the elements that shape our understanding of selfhood. However, it is within the interstitial moments of pause—those spaces of respite between this ceaseless quest—that we encounter the "breathing room" necessary for contemplation. This exhibition, through a carefully curated array of multidisciplinary works, creates an environment for reflective engagement, encouraging viewers to consider their own evolving narratives of identity and belonging.

Gallery Hours: Thursday to Saturday, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Opening Reception: Saturday, September 28 from 5-9PM
